Bridging Research and Practice with HR Analytics: Building Evidence-Based Capacity

Speaker: Dr. Wendy Carroll, Associate Professor Management, Saint Mary’s University

ABSTRACT:

Dr. Wendy Carroll invites us to reimagine how research can more effectively influence organizational practice. With organizations increasingly relying on people data, HR analytics offers a powerful—but often underused—pathway for researchers to connect their work with real-world impact.

Drawing on her work in Building Capacity for Evidence-Based Practice, Dr. Carroll presents an inter-organizational model emphasizing collaboration among researchers, synthesizers, knowledge mobilizers, and HR analytics professionals. She offers three strategies to close the research-practice gap: building synthesis capacity, engaging in knowledge mobilization, and partnering with organizations through HR analytics.

In this keynote, Dr. Carroll is especially interested in exploring strategies for advancing diversity and inclusion through evidence-based change. She offers a practical roadmap for co-creating knowledge, conducting responsive research, and making scholarship accessible and actionable —especially in today’s complex, data-rich workplaces.
