Religion has too often garnered a reputation for being insular, self-righteous, rule-driven, and for inspiring violence. Sadly, Judaism is not exempt from this criticism. How do we know what is good and right in God’s eyes? Our tradition offers us not only specific mitzvot and a halakhic process, but (I would suggest) much-needed meta-mitzvot to guide us in a rapidly changing and challenging world. We need these meta-mitzvot more today than ever before. We will explore together texts from Torah, both Talmuds, and midrash.
