EthicsEthics Break-out Session
In every setting in which we serve, rabbis regularly face and are asked about ethical dilemmas related to disability. Ethical questions and challenges include whether, how much, and to whom we disclose our own or family member’s hidden physical and psychiatric conditions and what we might counsel others to do in similar situations; ethical issues to be considered in planning or making policy for people with disabilities without their participation; and making decisions about allocating limited resources while taking into account the need for accommodations necessary for participation of children and adults with disabilities. These issues and more will be explored through case studies as we build a framework of principles and develop a professional community in which to make the best possible decisions.
