Rabbi Lisa Goldstein is a master teacher and facilitator with almost 25 years of executive experience. Educated at Brown University and Hebrew Union College, Rabbi Goldstein began her career as an Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Shaare Emeth in St. Louis, MO. She then served as the Executive Director of Hillel of San Diego, where she oversaw the growth of the organization from serving two San Diego campuses to eight. She was recognized as an Examplar of Excellence, Hillel’s highest honor, and was also honored by the Class of 2004 at Eleanor Roosevelt College at UC San Diego for excellence in serving students.
Most recently, Rabbi Goldstein served as the Executive Director of the Institute of Jewish Spirituality, where in addition to successfully transitioning the organization from the founder stage to the second stage, she emphasized greater accessibility to spiritual practices by teaching sophisticated concepts and language specifically for less experienced learners and by overseeing the introduction of online courses and offerings.
Rabbi Goldstein has taught Jewish mindfulness meditation in various contexts for almost 20 years. She was a group leader with the American Jewish World Service, co-facilitating nine service learning programs in the Global South. In 2009-2010 she was a Mandel Jerusalem Fellow, developing a program integrating contemplative practices and local justice work. She lives in New York City with her husband and foster son.
