Joy Friedman has over a dozen years of experience as a community organizer, running grassroots campaigns with interfaith communities for affordable health care, criminal justice reform, immigration reform, access to capital, and environmental policy. As Director of Organizing at the RAC, Joy organizes and oversees the Rabbis Organizing Rabbis (ROR) campaigns, state-wide organizing efforts in California and Ohio, and the Reform Movement’s Racial Justice Campaign. ROR, a joint effort of the RAC, the URJ, and the CCAR, stopped the deportations of four undocumented immigrants with citizen families who rely upon them, organized 200 Reform Rabbis to march with the NAACP’s Journey for Justice, and engaged 10,000 Reform Jews in Nitzavim:  Standing up for Voter Protection and Participation during the 2016 election season. Joy has provided training and delivered presentations on community organizing principles and practices to hundreds of interfaith, labor, and civic community leaders all over the country. A cum laude graduate of Carleton College, Joy was selected to participate in the Leading Change program at Harvard's Kennedy School and the Jewish Funds for Justice's Selah development seminars.
