Professor Manuel Trachtenberg is chairman of the Planning and Budgeting Committee of the Council for Higher Education. Benjamin Netanyahu appointed him as head of a committee tasked with finding ways to reduce the cost of living for ordinary Israelis, in response to widespread protests in Israel in 2011.
