Sam Centre Education

Sam Centre is home to Calgary’s Stampede story. Sam is a one-of-a-kind place animated by interactive exhibits, fully facilitated programs, vibrant learning spaces, and compelling storytelling.

Students participate in authentic experiences that are intentionally designed to bring the Alberta Education curriculum to life. Sharing the Stampede story of grit and glory, our field trips provide a valuable educational opportunity for students. Captivating imaginations and sparking curiosity, the Sam Centre Education Field Trips showcase that history, culture, and community can be as thrilling as the rodeo, exploring three main themes:

  • Community
  • Stampede and Southern Alberta Stories
  • Elbow River Camp

These experiences are hands-on and most of all, are Stampede FUN!

Stampede School

Stampede School is an immersive educational experience for students in grades 1 to 12 that relocates their classroom to Stampede Park. In their new setting, students and teachers experience deep and innovative learning and make connections to history, agriculture, Indigenous traditions and cultures, and western heritage and values. Each class’ week-long experience is customized to fit their particular curriculum and individual needs.

Journey 2050

Journey 2050 is a free, interdisciplinary, inquiry-based agriculture education program that challenges students to answer the essential question: “How will we sustainably feed nearly 10 billion people by the year 2050?” Journey 2050 takes students on a virtual simulation exploring world food sustainability, while empowering them to think deeper and understand their impact on the world around them. Journey 2050 is a free educational experience for grades 4+, offered as a field trip or guest speaker opportunity.

OH Ranch Education

The OH Ranch is one of Alberta’s most historic properties, and remains an authentic working cattle ranch. Explore topics of sustainability, ecosystem management, environmental stewardship, Alberta history and culture, and more at the Calgary Stampede’s OH Ranch. The program provides direct connections to Grade 4, 5, and 6 Science and Social Studies curriculum through unique, interactive, and authentic learning experiences. Engage and empower your students to think deeper, develop connections to their community and understand their impact on the world around them.
