.Anke Nijenhuis is a dedicated secondary EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher with several years of experience in the LEAD (Literacy, English, and Academic Development) program. She is passionate about supporting multilingual learners and prioritizes experiential learning, ensuring her students engage with English in practical, meaningful ways. She is a firm believer that experiential learning contributes to creating a supportive environment where students feel safe and confident to take risks in their learning. She is always eager to share her knowledge, experiences, and stories with fellow educators who are interested in EAL teaching, believing that collaboration and shared insights can lead to better outcomes for all learners.  Outside of the classroom Anke loves to spend time in her garden, cook new dishes in the kitchen and explore the outdoors while hiking, biking or walking with her 2 boys, husband and 2 dogs.
