Dan Weinert is currently the Academic Chair of Apprenticeship, connected to all 27 trades offered at SAIT. Dan is a dual-ticketed Red Seal Cabinetmaker and Red Seal Carpenter and is celebrating his 37th year as a tradesman, which include his 19th year at SAIT. He is a former faculty member (11 years), teaching in both Cabinetmaking and Carpentry programs before becoming the Academic Chair of Wood Trades, and later being seconded to his present position. Dan knows the apprenticeship system well and this interactive session will demystify how it works, how students become apprentices, the multiple pathways into apprenticeship, and the journey through to earn their Journeyperson credential. Dan will also offer insights into the current job market and the highest in-demand trades.
