Anthony Sherwood is a seventh generation African-Canadian and will introduce his presentation by revealing his own rich family history. His grandparents and relatives were social activists who were change agents and trailblazers who fought for equality and change in society. His family history inspired him to become an activist and also was a strong influence in the type of historical films he produced. Mr. Sherwood will reveal to the audience how his films on Black Canadian history and social justice were welcomed into schools and universities across North America. He will explain how film and audio-visual aids are important teaching tools in the classroom. Mr. Sherwood will highlight his presentation with rare photos and short video clips.
