In this interactive session, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and its significant role in modern construction and engineering. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge 3D technology, including augmented reality (AR) using the HoloLens and virtual reality (VR) with the Quest 3. Together, we will explore the application of 3D point clouds and demonstrate how to collect a point cloud as part of VDC data analysis. 

By the end of this session, you will understand the basic principles of Virtual Design and Construction and experience firsthand the transformative use of AR and VR in the construction industry. You will also explore how 3D point clouds are utilized for precision and accuracy in construction projects and witness a live demonstration of room scanning, showcasing its practical applications in VDC. 

Registration is required.

Your session will take place at the SAIT main campus located at 1301, 16 Ave NW.

Please proceed to the Thomas Riley Building – Building T.  The room is TU103.

If you’re driving to campus, parking is available in lots P2 or P6. When you arrive, take a ticket from the parking machine at the lot entrance and bring it with you to your session. You’ll receive a voucher to cover your parking, so it’s free of charge.
