Simon was born in Calgary and has lived here at 51°N Latitude all his life. He went to school at the University of Calgary and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physics, earning the Department of Physics and Astronomy's Venkatesen Silver Medallion. Upon graduation he went on to earn a Master's Degree specializing in theoretical quantum electrodynamics. He has always been interested in astronomy since his first department store Fisher-Price telescope at 3 years old. Only recently, (2016) he has focused on visual astronomy enjoying the sights he had only read about. He served as 1st Vice President of the Calgary Centre from 2018-2020 and has since served as President.
