Lars Petersen is an Assistant Professor (Teaching) in the Biological Sciences Department. Lars joined the department in July 2021 after a 10-year research career studying biomarkers for lung cancer at UCalgary. Lars currently teaches in the first and second year of the BioSci Core program where he is the course and lab coordinator for the winter-term first-year Biology course, and the course coordinator for the fall-term second-year Genetics course. In both courses, Lars has worked to develop authentic research experiences to closely tie together lecture and lab material, and has incorporated several self-reflection elements into course assessments to help students discover effective studying approaches.
