We will share what we are learning through working with 85 teachers in the Calgary Catholic School District as they pilot the draft Alberta K-6 social studies curriculum including: a summary of the feedback on the draft curriculum teachers have been sharing with Alberta Education; examples of the frameworks and protocols teachers have been using to plan for student learning with the draft curriculum; and examples of how teachers have been bringing the draft curriculum to their students. We will engage the audience in collaborative analysis of the draft curriculum towards providing further feedback to Alberta Education and we will think together about advocating for implementation supports teachers will need from ABED as the draft Social Studies curriculum moves ahead upcoming.
