As the conversations of anti-racism in schools continues to gain momentum in schools and education boards, the hope for an inclusive education is now recognizable as entering the building phase, that is critical for those who are embedding an anti-racist lens in their teaching practices and school culture. Through the lens of anti-racism education, this session will build on the understandings and best practices of embedding anti-racism in our classrooms and schools. The concepts of power, privilege, white supremacy, and racial equity are all part of our education system and requires us to critically examine our complicity within these structures. In examining how anti-racism in education is a necessary and critical within the discourse of diversity, equity and inclusion, this session builds on current learning and understandings of anti-racism as transformative education, that will positively impact racialized students.
