Dr. Phil McRae is an Executive Staff Officer and Associate Coordinator of Government-Research with the Alberta Teachers’ Association and serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta, where he earned his Ph.D. A celebrated educator and scholar, Dr. McRae is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Alberta Excellence in Teaching Finalist Award, the Queen Elizabeth II Doctoral Scholarship, the Minister of Education's Innovation Award, and the ATA Provincial Educational Research Award. He was recently inducted into the University of Lethbridge Alumni Honour Society. 

Dr. McRae oversees the research activities for Alberta’s 45,000 teachers, spearheads strategic planning for the teaching profession, and collaborates with local, national, and international education research communities. His career spans diverse educational contexts, having worked in secondary and post-secondary institutions across the Middle East (UAE), Asia (Japan), Europe (Spain), and Alberta, Canada, including with the Lethbridge Public School District and the Blood Tribe (Kainai First Nation) at Red Crow College. Honoured by the Blackfoot Nation with the name Áípapomm, meaning "lightning," Dr. McRae’s work continues to inspire and advance education systems around the world.
