When teaching about the Holocaust, it is imperative that voices of Holocaust survivors are highlighted. Using first-hand accounts helps students understand the historical context of the Holocaust, while individualizing the history and statistics. Considerations for a contemporary classroom include developing historical thinking skills, incorporating appropriate technology and proactively applying trauma-informed teaching strategies in the classroom.
