Global crisis’s, rights and equity issues are entering, and sometimes disrupting, classrooms within increasing frequency, leaving both students and educators feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. The Be an Upstander program uses a project based learning approach as a framework for students to take action for human rights. Students will examine human rights issues, then use their unique strengths to create exhibits or artifacts to tell others and finally develop an action plan for creating change. In this session participants will learn about the resource, hear from educators who are implementing it in their classes and learn how to create showcase events where students can share their learning with authentic audiences. http://www.humanrights.ca/upstander
