Sometimes they’re bored, disengaged, and unmotivated. Other times they’re risky, unpredictable, and emotionally volatile. What is going on with teenagers!? During this session, we will explore the brain, how it develops, and how things change during adolescence and early adult-hood. Through this discussion we will learn how (and why) teenagers think differently than adults and consider ways we can support them academically, emotionally, and cognitively. Furthermore, we will take a specific look at the impact of technology on adolescent development and learning.

OBJECTIVES
1) Participants will be able to describe the role of the PFC and NAC and consider how these two brain regions influence teenage behaviour.
2) Participants will be able to list several key social socioemotional strategies they can employ to support teenagers through adolescent development.
3) Participants will be able to define ‘Primary Function’ and explain how this leads ultimately leads to technology harming learning.
