Moving In Relationship: Helping our Challenged Kids, and Ourselves, Through the Maturation Process
Mon statut pour la session
- Overwhelmed by the unique needs of the challenged kids in your classes?
- Bewildered by the apparently unreasonable, inappropriate and, sometimes, aggressive behaviours of your students with exceptionalities such as Autism and ADHD?
- Feeling burned out and under-supported to help kids with such diverse and extreme behavioural issues?
- Hating that you feel you have to consequence and time-out these kids because you have no other leverage to change their behaviours?
- Wondering why certain kids elude your best attempts at connection and draw you into a cycle of mutual frustration and apparent futility?
Drawing on his training with, and the works of, Drs. Gordon Neufeld (Hold On to Your Kids), Vanessa LaPointe (Parenting Right, From the Start), Daniel J. Siegal (The Whole Brain Child), and his work with family and Attachment counsellor, Gila Golub, Ryan illuminates the hidden causes of challenging child behaviours as they occur in homes, classrooms and the community. Through anecdotes and real-life case studies, Ryan shares his personal and professional experiences with children with Autism Spectrum, ADD/ADHD and family trauma with disarming vulnerability and passion.
In this session, you will learn the causes and relational solutions to the often-bewildering behaviours of children with Autism, ADD/ADHD and trauma in a manner that avoids reinforcing separation alarm and preserves the relationship between educator and child.
