Janette began her career as an Animal Health Technologist after graduating from Olds College in 2003. Since then, she has specialized in canine behavoiur, earning her Certified Professional Dog Trainer Certificate in 2011 and her Certified Behaviour Consultant Canine certification in 2014. She has also pursued extensive continuing education, including Shelter Training and Enrichment with Karen Pryor and the Family Paws Certification program.

As an Animal Behaviour Coordinator, Janette handles a wide range of tasks. Over her 17 years working for The City, she has conducted thousands of canine behaviour assessments. These assessments help staff evaluate a dog's adoptability by testing their behaviour, with strangers, for resource guarding issues, dog to dog sociability and prey drive.
