Join me for a dynamic, hands-on professional learning experience where we’ll explore engaging ways to integrate art, music, and stories into your classroom. In this interdisciplinary session, you’ll create two art projects inspired by diverse themes. First, we’ll dive into the work of local Indigenous artist Jason Carter, applying Feldman’s art critique model to examine his art. We’ll then connect his themes to literature, sing related songs, and create our own landscape paintings. Our second project focuses on themes of growth and nature, as we explore children’s literature about gardens, trees, and flowers. Together, we’ll sing, discuss, and create a botanical art piece. No prior musical experience is required! These art projects offer a space for creative expression while connecting to children’s literature, music, social-emotional learning, and curriculum areas such as science and social studies. You’ll leave with ready-to-use project ideas and resources to enrich your classroom right away!
