Representing the Buckskin-Blackhorse family of the Weasel People, Julian is an award-winning, self-taught actor, writer, director, and producer of Indigenous/Central American and Irish descent, with over 20 years of experience. He began his career in the Canadian music scene before making a successful transition to film and television, with notable roles in Steven Spielberg’s Into the West (2005) and Blackstone (2009-2015), which earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination.
JBA's portfolio includes: Penny Dreadful (2014), Prey (2022), and Grendel (2022). In 2016, he founded HERD of 1 MEDIA, producing award-winning films, including his own TV series, Secret History TM . To foster Indigenous talent, he developed his own film training program within his production company that evolved into Western Canada’s first subsidized Indigenous “in-community” film initiative. This initiative solidified the Pathfinders Film Institute Corp, dedicated to providing subsidized, certified training for BIPOC creatives, ensuring underrepresented voices thrive in the industry.
