Join Kirk Wassmer and the Southern Alberta Junior Honour Band in an open rehearsal. Following the rehearsal, Kirk will open the floor for a brief discussion of rehearsal techniques and information related to the honour band experience. Mr. Wassmer came to Didsbury after teaching at G. P. Vanier Secondary School in Courtenay, BC and Revelstoke Secondary School. He is very proud to say that groups under his direction consistently receive high accolades at provincial, national and international festivals. In the fall of 2019, Mr. Wassmer was honoured to receive the Elkhorn Award by the Alberta Band Association as Band Director of the Year. In May of 2024, Mr. Wassmer received the Roy E. Cope Award for 2024 from Chinook's Edge School Division. This award is presented for his significant contribution to student success.
