Chris Ruli is a historian and researcher on early American Freemasonry. He is the author of The White House & The Freemasons and other works that examine the fraternity's legacy and impact on American society. He is a frequent contributor to Masonic and non-Masonic publications and has appeared in popular print, television, and digital programs including the The Washington Post, The History Channel, and the White House Historical Association's podcast.

A former Grand Historian and Librarian, Ruli leads efforts to digitize and disseminate Masonic research and strengthen academic approaches to studying Freemasonry. He serves on several Masonic executive boards including the Scottish Rite Research Society. Ruli is a member of Masonic organizations in Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia and a contributing member of the D.C. Historical Society.​

Ruli is a Columbia University graduate and a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. He lives in the Washington D.C. metro area with his wife and son.
