Jason Ravnsborg is a graduate of the University of South Dakota with a B.S. in Political Science and History as well as an Army commission through ROTC. Jason received his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota School of Law while simultaneously obtaining an M.A. in History and also while serving as an editor on Law Review. He participated in a clerkship after graduation before becoming a partner in the law arm of Harmelink, Fox & Ravnsborg in Yankton, SD where he is licensed to practice law in South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska as well as the federal courts of South Dakota and Iowa, the Federal Court of Claims and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jason also serves as a Deputy States Attorney for Union County in South Dakota. Jason is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves and has been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Germany during his military career. He has been awarded the Bronze Star along with many other awards and has been honored for his service by Congress. Jason has had four company commands and currently serves as a battalion commander overseeing approximately 1,000 soldiers in South Dakota and Nebraska. Jason has traveled around the state educating the public about topics like the History of Islam, the Islamic State, and the Iran Nuclear deal. He has most recently traveled the state conducting over 50 town hall meetings and presentations, leading the effort to defeat a number of ballot measures during the 2016 election cycle. Jason pledges to run his campaign and serve as Attorney General as he has done his life. He will be grounded in his Christian faith, his Midwestern work ethic of growing up on a farm and serving with integrity and honor, where his word is his bond. Jason further pledges to 1) travel to every county, every year, 2) lead from the front by discussing the important issues of the day and ordering solutions, 3) keeping his door open for anyone to come visit and ask questions or report concerns and 4) be a strong advocate for law enforcement.
