Warren M. Alter

President General NSSAR 2018-2019

Warren Alter, a long-time resident of Tucson AZ, joined the Tucson Chapter, AZ Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) in 1998 and is a Life-Member of SAR. Over the last 22 years, he has served the SAR at all levels, Chapter, State, District, and National. In 2018, Warren was elected to the SAR’s highest office, President General of the Sons of the American Revolution 2018-2019. Upon completion of his term in July 2019, Warren was elected to his current position as a Board Member with the SAR Foundation (three-year term). Warren has been recognized for his dedication and service in SAR with numerous Medals and Awards, including the Minuteman Award Class of 2014 and the Gold Good Citizenship Medal.

Of particular interest to this group, Warren also has a long history with the Masonic family. As a teenager he was a member of DeMolay, serving as Past Master Counselor and earned the highest honor an active DeMolay may obtain, the Degree of Chevalier. Upon turning 21, he became a Master Mason (Marion McDaniel Lodge #32, Tucson AZ) and is a Life Member of Marion McDaniel Lodge #32, Tucson, AZ. Although never having gone through the chairs; as a Master Mason, he continued to support Masonic youth groups for several years (DeMolay as a Chapter Advisor, and Rainbow, as an Advisory Board Member [awarded the Grand Cross of Colors]). In his twenties, he also joined the York Rite Bodies and is a Shriner (Sabbar Temple, Tucson AZ). He has maintained his membership in these organizations to this day.

Warren’s professional life was in law enforcement. He retired in 2015 as a Bureau Chief with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Tucson AZ, after 39 years of service. He holds numerous academic degrees, including a Master of Arts in Organizational Management and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and is a Certified Public Manager in AZ.

Warren and his wife Nancy have been married over 26 years. They have two daughters, a son-in-law, and two wonderful grandsons. Warren and his wife currently split their time between Tucson (their permanent residence) and Louisville where they have an apartment. He continues traveling throughout the country, representing the SAR and supporting its projects and missions.
