Dr. Jod Mehta is the Executive Director of the Head of the Tissue Engineering and Cell therapy group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute and a Distinguished Professor with DUKE-NUS GMS. He is a Senior Consultant of Corneal and Refractive Service for the Singapore National Eye Center (SNEC) – and former head from 2012-2022. 

Dr. Mehta is a named Professor of Clinical Innovation at SNEC/SERI, the Director of Education of Singhealth Transplant, and the Deputy Executive Director of SDCT. He has published >490 peer-reviewed papers and 20 book chapters. Current H-index 65, citations 16,340. He has given >380 invited plenary, symposium and named lectures globally with over 63 national and international awards; most recently the Casebeer Award from ISRS/AAO (2020), and the Charles Tillett Lecture from the Fuchs Society, USA (2020), 11^th College of Ophthalmologist lecture, Singapore (2022), David Easty Lecture, Bowman Club, UK (2023). His research work has generated 16 patents, 5 of which have been licensed to companies. 

Dr. Mehta has trained 30 international fellows, 5 masters students and 8 PhD students. He leads a clinical service and runs a research program comprising of clinical and translational studies. His work is focused on corneal transplantation, femtosecond laser technology, corneal refractive surgery, keratoprosthesis surgery and corneal genetics.
