At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the complexity associated with global ophthalmology including the many program needs and visiting ophthalmology roles
  • Identify the role of comprehensive ophthalmologists in managing patients with low vision
  • Outline expected changes in ophthalmology service provision in Canada
  • Describe the forthcoming transition to Competence by Design in the field of ophthalmology, as evaluated through a Canadian program's case experience
