Le Dr Baig est spécialiste de la cornée, du segment antérieur et de la chirurgie réfractive. Il offre des soins tertiaires à l’Institut de l’œil de l’Université d’Ottawa, où il est professeur adjoint. Il est aussi médecin consultant spécialiste de la cornée au Centre hospitalier de l’est de l’Ontario, chercheur principal à l’Institut de recherche de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa et directeur des programmes de stages cliniques et de recherche sur la cornée, le segment antérieur et la chirurgie réfractive. De plus, il est président de la Société canadienne de la cornée, des maladies externes et de la chirurgie réfractive.
Il a effectué ses études de médecine et sa résidence à l’Université McGill, a obtenu une maîtrise en administration des affaires (gestion des services de santé) à l’Université McMaster et a mené à terme un stage de recherche aux États-Unis. Il s’intéresse vivement à la mise au point et à la réalisation d’innovations en chirurgie de la cornée et du segment antérieur.
