Dr. Discepola completed medical school and residency at McGill University. He has won numerous awards and distinctions, including the Fantham Memorial Prize, McConnell Award, and Logan Scholarship, and was named University Scholar.

Dr. Discepola is on staff at the McGill University Health Center as well as St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal. He is also an Assistant Professor at McGill University and is in charge of the one-week Transition to Clinical Practice Ophthalmology Course given to all second-year McGill medical students. Being in charge of the McGill Cataract Teaching Committee, he is also actively involved in teaching the finer points of cataract surgery to residents.

Dr. Discepola has traveled throughout much of the world to present his work and lecture on ocular surgery, and has published over 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Discepola is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also one of the few individuals outside of Italy to have been conferred a Knighthood by the Italian government for excellence in research, teaching, and patient care.
