
Sheraz M. Daya MD, FACP, FACS, FRCS(Ed), FRCOphth
Dr. Sheraz Daya
is the founder and Chairman of Centre for Sight and was previously Director and
Consultant at the Corneoplastic Unit and Eye Bank, Queen Victoria Hospital,
East Grinstead (1994-2011). His areas of
expertise includes high risk corneal transplantation, limbal stem cell
transplantation, lamellar corneal transplantation refractive surgery and high
performance lens intraocular lenses. He
has published extensively on ocular surface reconstruction and limbal stem cell
transplantation. He has also developed novel lamellar transplant techniques. He introduced the femtosecond laser to the UK
in 2004 and pioneered its use in corneal transplantation and cataract
surgery. Mr Daya is the medical monitor
for Technolas – Bausch and Lomb, manufacturers of the Victus and Teneo lasers.
A keen writer, he has over 100 publications and is also the founding medical
editor of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today-Europe. He has
and continues to serve committees and boards of numerous organizations
including ESCRS, UKISCRS, ASCRS, AAO, AECOS, the Royal College of
Ophthalmologists and the Corneal Society.
