The session introduces clinical application and surgical techniques for XEN microstents, Gonioscopy Assisted Transluminal Trabeculectomy with ABiC and iTrack, and adjunctive glaucoma procedures during cataract surgery: Goniosynechialysis and ab interno needling. The audience will be general ophthalmologists, glaucoma specialists, and senior trainees with interest in glaucoma. Each candidate will have his/her own microscope with instructors supervising (ratio 1:2). Each surgical approach will have seven stations and attendees will rotate through three stations. Either dry-lab or wet-lab versions will be present, depending on the best model for each device.

Video projection of surgical videos of each device will be played throughout the session.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the indications, advantages, disadvantages, and post operative management for XEN microstents, Gonioscopy Assisted Transluminal Trabeculectomy/ABiC/iTrack, Goniosynechialysis, and Ab Interno needling
  • Apply and learn the technique involved in performing these microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) procedures as well as adjunctive glaucoma procedures during cataract surgery
  • Integrate simulation-based learning of MIGS and adjunctive glaucoma procedures during cataract surgery into residency/fellowship training programs
