Dr. David Rootman, MD, FRCSC

Dr. Rootman completed his medical school and residency at the University of Toronto in 1986.  This was followed by a fellowship in Cornea and External Disease fellowship at Louisiana State University under the direction of Professor Herbert E. Kaufman.  Since 1988, he has been on staff at University Health Network (UHN), Toronto Western Hospital and SickKids hospital.  He has been doing refractive surgery at the TLC laser Center since 1996. 

Dr. Rootman has held many positions including:  Medical and Scientific Director of the Eye Bank of Canada, Clinical and Research head of the Cornea department at UHN, Virtual head of the University Cornea Section and Medical Director of TLC Laser Center.

He specializes in Corneal and Refractive Surgery, and emphasizes treatment of corneal pathology in his refractive practice.
