
Sonali Uppal is a PhD student at McGill University specializing in strategy and organization, with a research focus on the long-term sustainability of social enterprises and the role of volunteers in sustaining them. She holds master’s degrees in public policy from Cornell University and in rural business management from the Institute of Rural Management Anand in India. She previously worked as a socio-development researcher for over six years with organizations such as the Population Council, Ernst & Young, and Sambodhi Research in India. Now, as an academic researcher, Sonali is interested in topics at the intersection of entrepreneurship, volunteering, social impact, and the long-term sustainability of enterprises in rural and informal markets.
