Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS)

Chris joined the Canadian Hydrographic Service in 2008 and has been in his current position since 2016. He leads several teams that deliver Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s (DFO) responsibilities related to Canada’s Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) Program; CHS’ Remote Sensing Centre of Expertise and Space files for DFO generally; Maritime Limits and Boundaries; Science Data Management and Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure.

To ensure alignment of CHS’ domestic efforts with international best practices, guidelines and standards, Chris participates in an Arctic Ocean Workshop dedicated to ECS issues and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; the Marine Geospatial Information Working Group under the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information; and, is the current Vice-Chair of the International Hydrographic Organization’s Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure Working Group.
