Elton Cryderman is the manager responsible for the building permits, investment in building construction, and property value programs in the Investment, Science and Technology Division at Statistics Canada. In collaboration with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, his team is leading the development of a 1-year Modernization Pilot Project and feasibility study to develop leading edge alternative data for building starts using satellite imagery and machine learning/artificial intelligence. Elton began his career at Statistics Canada in 1999, but spent some time as a senior policy analyst at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada before returning to Statistics Canada in 2007. Since then, he has managed several key programs at the agency including the Monthly Survey of Manufacturing and the Labour Force Survey. He has been in his current position since the autumn of 2017.
