Dr. Gwyn Lintern applies his marine geohazards and sedimentology expertise to ensure that Canadians have access to strong evidence for making decisions on major projects. Lintern has led prominent NRCan science projects, including the North Coast Marine Geohazard Tanker Safety Activity, NRCan’s science agreements with Ocean Networks Canada to research geohazards, and scientific missions with the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, to understand powerful submarine landslides. Currently he leads NRCan’s Submarine Landslide and Tsunami Activity under the Public Safety Geoscience Program. He has provided evidence and designed guidelines for most of BC major environmental impact processes on behalf of three departments Natural Resources Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada. Dr Lintern has obtained an MSc in Ocean Protection from the University of Wales, Bangor, and a PhD in Engineering from Oxford University.
