Dr. Gordon “Oz” Osinski is a Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is also the Director of the Canadian Lunar Research Network and the co-founder and Chief Scientist of the Earth and Planetary Institute of Canada. He is a world-renowned researcher in the area of Earth and planetary science and has received numerous international awards for this work. Most recently, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in recognition of his work. Dr. Osinski has conducted fieldwork on 6 continents, from Antarctica to Africa, but the Canadian Arctic is where much of his work takes place. He is also involved in a multitude of planetary exploration-related activities. In 2022 he was named the Principal Investigator of the Canadian Lunar Rover Mission – Canada’s first ever rover mission to the Moon. For the past decade he has also been providing geology training to Canadian and US astronauts and was also recently named to be part of the Geology Team for NASA’s Artemis III mission, the first mission to return to the Moon in over 50 years. He is also passionate about outreach and science communication and leads several educational initiatives, including Space Matters and Impact Earth.
