Où:
Big Four Roadhouse - Theatre 1
Mot-clé:
buildingSMART Canada Annual BIM Summit
The presentation is geared towards providing an engaging discussion on what are the opportunities organizations adopting BIM would benefit, such as:

  • Enhanced collaboration: BIM facilitates collaboration among all disciplines, stakeholders, and contractors, reducing errors and miscommunication using real-time data when applications to ensure all parties have access to the most current project information.
  • Risk Management: Early detection of issues and clashes during design can avoid costly on-site changes. Construction companies can better integrate technology on site.
  • Sustainable Construction and Operations: BIM enables better analysis of energy performance and environmental impact, promoting sustainable building practices, while also facilitating the adoption of green building certificates.
  • Integration with emerging technologies: The integration of BIM with technologies like AI, VR/AR, and IoT can enhance its capabilities and application.

However, I would also be talking about challenges the industry has been experiencing, and possible ways forward to overcome them, such as:

  • Resistance to Change: Traditional workflows and resistance from employees used to conventional methods can hinder BIM adoption.
  • Lack of Unified Standards: Inconsistencies in BIM standards across different regions and organizations create integration challenges.
  • Interoperability: Current marked in North America is still very close. Adoption of openBIM standards are in the very infant age, which creates issues when parties use different software.
  • Regulatory and legal challenges: the legal implementations of BIM are still evolving, and clear guidelines on BIM usage in contracts are necessary to avoid disputes.
  • Data management and security: Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of data throughout the project life-cycle.
