Product-as-a-Service: A Paradigm Shift in the world of Gyro-Mapping

Gyroscopic mapping of underground ducts and pipes has been around for a few decades now, and it continues to gain traction amongst the worlds' utilities as an accurate and unique technology. Nevertheless, the market perception until now is that Gyro-mapping, as it's also often referred to, is more expensive than traditional mapping and locating technologies.         

And although that perception is true, it is not due to the cost of the technology, but rather due to the inefficient way in which it is offered to the market today. Technology is often located far from the job site, which means unnecessarily high Mobilization and Demobilization costs. Secondly, most service providers charge  fixed daily rates, regardless of the length of pipe to be mapped that day, and this results in immense variations in cost per meter or foot. 

Reduct has therefore introduced the Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) concept, a paradigm shift in the world of Gyro-mapping. The fundamental principle of the PaaS concept is that Reduct will make the necessary mapping equipment available virtually free of charge, and in return system users  commit to a minimum volume in meters or feet per year. The value of the equipment provided and the volume committed form the basis for calculating a flat rate per meter or foot.
