Derek Lichti

Canadian Remote Sensing Society

Derek Lichti is Professor in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary. He teaches photogrammetry and laser scanning. His research program focuses on imaging metrology, precision 3D reality capture from imaging sensors, principally terrestrial laser scanners, digital cameras, and X-ray imaging modalities. The applications of his research include heritage site recording, dimensional control, biomechanics and antler growth measurement. He is a Director of the Canadian Remote Sensing Society – Société canadienne de télédétection (CRSS-SCT). He is also a member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Council and ISPRS Congress Director, responsible for organization of the 2026 ISPRS Congress in Toronto.
