
Mark Bauer
Mark Bauer is a Senior Software Developer on Arup's Digital Services Team in New York City. His work focuses on applying top-tier data engineering tools and methods to both data science and geographic information systems (GIS) projects. Mark's primary projects involve building data pipelines, automating workflows, and scaling various types of geospatial data, primarily for the Water sector. He is fluent in various programming languages and has experience with cloud services, data warehouses, and business intelligence tools.
Before joining Arup, Mark worked as a Data Engineer at the First Street Foundation, where he utilized geospatial and statistical methods to develop tools for assessing various climate perils such as floods, wildfires, hurricanes, heat, and air quality.
Alongside professional endeavors, Mark actively contributes to open source data analysis projects, collectively amassing over 300 starts on GitHub. Mark holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Urban Planning from Rutgers University, and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Urban Science and Informatics from New York University.
