Ms Kate Francis

Kate Francis is the Head of Research, Data Ethics and Digital Sustainability at ICT Legal Consulting (ICTLC), an international law firm, where she manages the activities of the ICTLC Research Department. She is a PhD Candidate at the Maastricht University Faculty of Law. Kate’s research topics include transparency in the EU legal data protection framework, Data Protection under the umbrella of sustainability, and GDPR enforcement. Kate is the co-author (with Paolo Balboni) of Data Protection as a Corporate Social Responsibility (Edward Elgar, 2023). She is a certified Data Protection Officer (ECPC-B DPO, European Centre of Privacy and Cybersecurity, Maastricht University), certified Cloud Security Alliance GDPR Compliance Code of Conduct Consultant (credential ID 19PB000013), and a certified Europrivacy - GDPR compliance and certification Auditor (credential ID 94-163-025-8975).

Kate Francis è responsabile del settore Ricerca, Etica dei dati e Sostenibilità digitale presso lo studio legale internazionale ICT Legal Consulting (ICTLC), dove gestisce le attività del Dipartimento di Ricerca, e dottoranda presso la Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell'Università di Maastricht. I temi di ricerca di Kate includono la trasparenza nel quadro giuridico dell’UE in materia di protezione dei dati, la protezione dei dati nell’ambito della sostenibilità e l’enforcement del GDPR. Kate è coautrice (con Paolo Balboni) di Data Protection as a Corporate Social Responsibility (Edward Elgar, 2023).
