Sven Albrecht is doing a PhD at the department of the English Language and Linguistics at Chemnitz University of Technology, working on quantitative sociophonetics of non-native English speakers. The vision of this interdisciplinary project is to teach computers how to speak Chinese English to improve subject matter learning and to reduce tutoring workloads at universities. In addition, he is working on bridging socio-economic gaps by modernizing the English curricula at Palestinian higher education institutions. The idea is to enable people from disadvantaged communities to participate as equal partners in the global academic and professional world.
