Ms Marta Staccioli
Marta Staccioli is a Senior Legal Counsel at Google, where she works, since 2015, as litigator for the countries of Italy, Greece and Cyprus, dealing daily with issues relevant to privacy, right to be forgotten, data protection and data localization. In such a context, she interacts with Courts, supervisory authorities and regulators, having the chance to discuss with the most influential figures in the public space on both existing and emerging problems relevant to individuals’ rights.
Her role and the company she works for allow her to be at the forefront of today’s challenges regarding the use, the value and the protection of personal data, as well as to get a first-hand experience of the interpretation and real-life applications of the old, new and about to come rules of law regulating this complex and fascinating world.
Her experience in the field dates back to her years (2009 – 2015) as associate and senior associate in the IT/TMT and Commercial department of the international Law Firm Hogan Lovells, where her practice focused both on litigation and commercial work involving privacy and data protection, with a main focus on e-commerce and information technology.
Before that, she worked from 2004 to 2009 in a boutique law firm specialized in copyright and IP rights, assisting Italian media companies as well as international holdings.
Marta regularly lectures on data protection, ISPs' liability and e-commerce at different Master’s programmes and seminars.
