
Emerald de Leeuw is a leading expert in privacy and AI governance, currently serving as the Global Head of Privacy and AI Governance at Logitech. She is also the co-founder of Women in AI Governance.
Her expertise in the field has been recognised with multiple accolades, including Privacy Executive of the Year 2023 and the prestigious Women in AI Ambassador of the Year 2024. Emerald’s professional journey in privacy began in 2012 when she wrote her master’s thesis on the GDPR and founded a privacy-tech company shortly thereafter.
Her leadership in this field has earned her numerous awards, such as European Young Innovator of the Year and a spot on Forbes’ list of 100 European Female Founders to Follow. As a speaker, Emerald is known for her dynamic and insightful presentations at events like TEDx and WomeninTech, as well as at institutions such as UC Berkeley and the European Parliament. She covers topics ranging from privacy and AI governance to supporting female entrepreneurs. In 2021, she was named a Marshall Memorial Fellow by the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
Emerald holds a bachelor’s degree in Law, two master's degrees, one in E-Law and Intellectual Property Law and another in Business Information Systems, both with First-Class Honours. She furthered her education by completing her executive education at Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2023.
