
Anja is a UX research manager at Google, focusing on ensuring that privacy settings are communicated in the most understandable and intuitive way for children and teenagers. With a background in applying anthropology practices to technology brands, she is passionate about understanding how children, teenagers and families use and get the most from online services.
In her role, Anja uses innovative research techniques to generate insights on usage which then informs the development of privacy controls into Google products, in particular through Google Families and enabling age verification through other Google services.
Anja is based in Munich, Germany, but originates from Austria and studied at the University of Queensland, Australia holding a PhD in Anthropology focused on young people's use of wearable cameras. Anja previously worked at Facebook, leading the company's kids and teens research team as well as youth wellbeing research efforts.
