
Jarmo Eskelinen
As Chief Innovation and Technology Officer, Jarmo helps
accelerate Future Cities Catapult’s ideas to market, brings together potential
partners and collaborators and is constantly striving to innovate across the many
challenges that we face in the urban sector. His team bring together
businesses, universities and city leaders so that they can work with each other
to solve the problems that cities face.
Previously, Jarmo was the CEO of Forum Virium Helsinki,
the innovation lab of the City of Helsinki, Finland, from 2006 to
2016. Prior to that, he’s been the executive director of the Media
Centre Lume of the Aalto University and program director of the Helsinki 2000
European Capital of Culture. Jarmo was also an entrepreneur in a
successful concert promotion company in the 90’s. Originally trained as an
architect, he is an expert in smart cities.
Jarmo is vice-chair of the international Open &
Agile Smart Cities network, member of the Smart London Board, member of the
EC Open Innovation group OISPG and former president of the European Network of
Living Labs (ENoLL).
