
Peter Eberl is Senior Expert for Platform Regulation in the European Commission's DG CONNECT. Within the Directorate for Platforms Policy and Enforcement, his unit is in charge of coordination and regulatory compliance. Peter’s tasks include the coordination of the activities of the European Board for Digital Services and its Working Groups. Peter has rich experience in various areas of digital policy making and application. In his previous assignment, he was Deputy Head of Unit for Cybersecurity and Digital Privacy Policy, dealing inter alia with the NIS 2 Directive, the Cybersecurity Act, and ePrivacy, including encryption and online advertising. Previously, as Deputy Head of Unit for Electronic Communications Policy, he played a leading role in the legislative negotiations of the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), and of the open Internet (net neutrality) provisions in the Telecoms Single Market Regulation. Before moving to digital policies, he worked in DG Competition as case officer and manager on merger policy and cases in various sectors, and in the private sector. Peter studied law and economics in Bayreuth, Aix-en-Provence and Rennes.
